WINTER CONCERTS

(Vicki Feltman)

Choir and Jazz Winter Concert

Wednesday, December 7th, 7:30 P.M.

Homestead Auditorium

Winter Pops Concert (Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Bands, Concert Band)

Thursday, December 8th, 6 P.M. and 8 P.M.

(2nd period Symphonic Band performs at the 6 pm concert; the 3rd period Symphonic Band performs at the 8 pm concert)

Homestead Auditorium

Admission to these concerts is free, but we gladly accept donations! Every dollar we get is used to pay for registration to music festivals (CMEA, Reno Jazz Festival, WBA Concert Festival, etc.) and help with the cost of field trips.

PLEASE REMEMBER:

All concerts are mandatory and students are expected to participate. Parents must let Mr. Burn know IN WRITING if students will not be attending.

All students and members of the audience are expected to arrive before the concert begins and stay for the entire concert. It is impolite and disruptive to other groups for any audience member (including adults) to leave in the middle of a performance.

At formal performances such as adjudicated festivals and formal concerts, students are to wear the following:

Boys:

-       Black dress shoes, dark socks, black pants (no jeans), white button-up collared shirt, black tie and black sport coat. If a coat is unavailable, a black sweater is ok, but no sweatshirts or black shirts please.

Girls:

-       Preferred: Long black dress with shoulders covered, black hose and shoes.

-       Ok: Black skirt knee length or longer, or black dress pants, with black top with shoulders covered, black hose and shoes.

-       Not Ok: T-shirts, sweatshirts, or tennis shoes.

-       Rule of thumb for girls’ formal concert attire: the less skin showing, the better.

-

Detailed Rehearsal Schedules have been posted in School loop….READ THEM

(Eileen Chun)

We need help at the concerts.  Please go to the volunteer website at http://www.volunteerspot.com/login/entry/962345632561568076 to sign up for the following needs:

Choir & Jazz Concert : Wednesday, December 07

Pops Concert : Thursday, December 08

Winter Concert Door 6pm  5:30 pm needs 1

Winter Concert Tickets 6pm  5:30 pm needs 1

(Door monitor during concerts – simple duty… you sit in the auditorium and get up to open the doors when everyone claps, to let people in from the lobby. The doors are locked to keep people from opening the doors while the show is recorded).

COUNTY HONOR BAND APPLICATIONS

(Vicki Feltman)

The Santa Clara County Honor Band is comprised of the most advanced band students from over 20 high schools in our county. Homestead has a long reputation of being very well represented in this band and students are encouraged to participate. The audition date is Friday, December 9th. Interested students should see Mr. Burn and Mr. Morton for audition details and application form.

TURN IN YOUR MARCHING HORNS

(Vicki Feltman)

Please leave your marching horn underneath the white board in the band room. All marching horns must be returned by Friday, December 9th.

SECOND ANNUAL HOLIDAY CAROLING FUNDRAISER

(May Zeng)

It's that time of year again! We will be going around the neighborhood playing holiday music in exchange for donations. This year's Halloween Caroling event was a huge success, raising over $1200, while having lots of fun (last year, we even rescued somebody's dog!). Times and locations are still tentative, but please email May Zeng at mayzeng29@gmail.com if you would be interested in participating and/or hosting this event. Thanks!

VOLUNTEER FOR SANTA CLARA VANGUARD BINGO TO EARN MONEY TOWARD BAND FEES

(Diane Cressler)

Santa Clara Vanguard has opened their bingo volunteering calendar for November, December and January. This is a great way to "bank" money in your scrip account to pay for band expenses.

For each shift you volunteer, you will earn $40 toward your student’s scrip account. Money in your scrip account can be used toward paying any allowable Homestead Music program costs (Marching Band, Winter Percussion, Winter Guard, Choir, etc). Volunteers must be 18 yrs or older. They do not need to be a parent or relative of the student. They can be a friend working on behalf of the student.

If you are new to the program, please refer to the “Fundraising” section of the HHSMB website for details and for sign-up instructions (be sure to read all the information before signing-up):

http://homestead.schoolloop.com/blast100524

To register for Bingo times, please click the link below.

http://www.scvanguard.org/about/events/

To ensure your scrip account is properly credited, please email Diane Cressler (longdogz@pobox.com ) and let her know the dates you actually work and the name of the student scrip account to credit.

If you have any questions, contact Diane Cressler, longdogz@pobox.com.
