We are offering a simplified concessions for the game. We need quite a few people to make this happen. This may be our last game - please help by signing up on our volunteer website:

http://www.volunteerspot.com/login/entry/962345632561568076

Just a reminder that everyone must pay to get into the football games.

SATURDAY’S PRACTICE

(Vicki Feltman)

8:30-10 AM - MANDATORY Wind Ensemble Rehearsal

All Macy’s student performers (Guard, band, banners) MUST drop off their shoe bags/black bags in the band room before practice. They must contain your CLEAN black shoes, CLEAN black socks, CLEAN black gloves (for band), and THERMALS.

Tubas, make sure your berets are also in your shoe bag.

It is also recommended that you put your names in your shoes, gloves, and thermals– they all look alike when they sit in a jumble in your hotel room.

We will inspect all bags to make sure you have everything listed. If we find anything missing, you will need to go home to retrieve the missing items and bring them back after Saturday practice. We cannot afford to have you leave any of these items behind. We will not have extras to give you.

You will get your bags back before boarding your bus Sunday morning.

10AM-4PM MANDATORY Full Marching Band Practice

ORDER YOUR MACY’S PHOTOS NOW – ONLY 8 MORE DAYS TO RECEIVE FREE SHIPPING AND FREE DVD!

(Vicki Feltman)

Orders that arrive before Thanksgiving will receive a free video DVD and qualify for free shipping! There are only 8 days left to take advantage of this offer. You can place orders after Thanksgiving, but you will not receive the free shipping/free DVD.

Order online now at www.groupphotos.com/special, or get an order form from the band room document sorter and pay by check. Mail must arrive BEFORE Thanksgiving to receive free video DVD and free shipping.

UNIFORM REMINDERS

(Barbara Edmonds)

  • Custom gloves???? We've heard some people have purchased other gloves to wear during the parade. Even if you think they look close enough to ours, you must have them checked by Mr. Burn and Mrs. Edmonds before you can wear them in NY. You must do this before we leave for NY (not at midnight as we dress for the parade).
  • Haircuts - if your hair is even close to the collar of your jacket, get it cut now. We will check hair at Wed's practice.
  • Clean your shoes - I know you want them to look nice when you are on TV. It takes just a minute to give them a nice wipe with a damp cloth.
  • Do you even have your shoes??? Recently 4 pairs of shoes have been found. Check that you have your shoes. If you are missing yours, please contact Mrs. Edmonds right away.
  • Missing a thermal? - Someone dropped their Men's Medium bottoms on the night they were distributed. No one has claimed them yet. Let Mrs. Edmonds know if you are missing them.
  • Gloves - Again, you want those close-up TV shots of you playing to look nice. If your gloves (especially those with cut fingers) are unraveling, please buy a new pair. You can get some at the Wed practice. We shipped most of our stock to NY, so if we run out, you can buy them from us there.
  • Hand warmers - We purchased air-activated hand warmers for all performers. These will be distributed when we are waiting for our practice run-through Thurs morning.
  • Socks: We were able to arrange for a special purchase of black wool socks from SmartWool (band will pick up the cost). They will be distributed later this week. You will wear these socks during the parade.
  • Shoes - Please check the shoes in your shoe bag. At the last football game, someone accidentally picked up a pair of shoes. We are missing a pair of size 10 Men's shoes. We also have 4 pairs of shoes that were found over the last few events. If you are missing shoes, please check with us at tomorrow night's practice.

VOLUNTEER FOR SANTA CLARA VANGUARD BINGO TO EARN MONEY TOWARD BAND FEES

(Diane Cressler)

Santa Clara Vanguard has opened their bingo volunteering calendar for November, December and January. This is a great way to "bank" money in your scrip account to pay for band expenses.

For each shift you volunteer, you will earn $40 toward your student’s scrip account. Money in your scrip account can be used toward paying any allowable Homestead Music program costs (Marching Band, Winter Percussion, Winter Guard, Choir, etc). Volunteers must be 18 yrs or older. They do not need to be a parent or relative of the student. They can be a friend working on behalf of the student.

If you are new to the program, please refer to the “Fundraising” section of the HHSMB website for details and for sign-up instructions (be sure to read all the information before signing-up):

If you have any questions, contact Diane Cressler, longdogz@pobox.com.

BAND PHOTO MAKE UP DAY – STAY TUNED

(Vicki Feltman)

We realize not every student had a chance to get their individual pictures taken on Saturday.  We are arranging a makeup day, which means, if you didn’t get a chance to order pictures, you have a second chance!

We will announce the makeup day in the next blast. It will most likely be in December some time.

SNACK SHACK COORDINATOR NEEDED FOR 2012 FOOTBALL SEASON

Are you organized?  Do you like working with people?  We are looking for someone to step up and take over the Snack Shack Coordinator position for next year’s football season.  This can be a position that is shared with a friend.  It is an excellent opportunity to meet band students and parents, and it provides an invaluable service to Music Boosters.  If this is something that even remotely interests you, please contact Eileen Chun at hhsmbvolunteer@gmail.com for more information.
