Do not underestimate the power of rest. We all perform well when properly rested. It is important to get a good night's sleep before taking finals. Make time to sleep; you will do better if you sacrifice some of your studying for sleep.

Back To School Info for all students and parents

Homestead High School is now providing access to all summer mailer documents onlineThe full summer mailer is available here. 

Parents will receive an email from InformedK12 and the FUHSD District Office with online access to Infinite Campus “Back to School Updates”.  The “Back to School Updates”, including completing questions regarding Parent/Student Rights & Responsibilities, Student Technology Agreement, Photo/Media permission, and Military Opt Out, must be completed with necessary changes, electronically signed, and electronically submitted in exchange for your student’s tentative class schedule at Round-up (August 13th and 14th – see school calendar for details), or for their official schedule on the first day of school.  BE SURE TO ELECTRONICALLY COMPLETE AND SUBMIT THIS INFORMATION BEFORE ROUND-UP IN ORDER TO GET YOUR TENTATIVE CLASS SCHEDULE!  

For those parents without an email address, the “Back to School Updates” forms will be mailed home.  Forms must be printed and signed by both parent and student in exchange for tentative and/or official schedules.
 

2018-19 BACK TO SCHOOL DATES

Don’t miss our back to school events beginning in August!  There’s something for everyone – parents, returning students and incoming freshmen/new students from other high schools!  Start the new school year prepared!

HOP Day (Homestead Orientation Program):  August 8th, 8:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Large Gym.  For all incoming freshmen and students new to Homestead.  The purpose of this event is to help make the transition to Homestead a positive experience.

POP Day (Parent Orientation Program):  August 8th, 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Quad and Large Gym. For parents of incoming freshmen and new students.  Meet other parents, HHS Staff and Administration and get all your questions about Homestead answered.  

Round Up:  August 13th & 14th.  

For ALL Homestead students. Students will collect tentative class schedules in exchange for their electronically submitted Back to School Updates.  Students will also receive their student ID cards, and much more.

  • Seniors:  Monday, August 13th, 8:30 – 10:30 a.m.
  • Juniors:  Monday, August 13th, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
  • Sophomores:  Tuesday, August 14th, 8:30 – 10:30 a.m.
  • Freshmen:  Tuesday, August 14th, 12:30 – 3:30 p.m.

First Day of School:  Monday, August 20th.  
All students must attend at 8:00 a.m.  Official class schedules will be distributed.  See the First Day of School Schedule in the Summer Mailer for more information.

Back to School Night:  Wednesday, September 12th, 5:30 p.m. – 8:15 p.m.  
More information to follow. 

August 20: First Day of School and new Schedule begins

School starts August 20th! All students will start in an advisory period at 8:00 am for the opening of school schedule. Homestead has also adopted a new schedule for the upcoming school year. Please make note of the special schedule for the first day and the changes in start and end times for the regular year schedule. 

HHS senior earns recognition from Songbook Academy

Congratulations to Emily Song, a Top 40 finalist for the Songbook Academy, a nationally recognized music intensive for some of the nation’s premier high school aged musicians. Emily's selection as a Songbook Academy national finalist gives her the opportunity to experience workshops, master classes and mentoring from music industry professionals and respected university educators, and is a strong endorsement for Homestead's musical program. Learn more about the program and this honor. 


 

HHS teacher Andrea Westgate is FUHSD Teacher of the year

Math teacher Andrea Westgate was recognized by Homestead High School as their 2018 Teacher of the Year and was also honored by the Fremont Union High School District as District Teacher of the Year. Homestead is lucky to have Ms. Westgate as a faculty member! Read this Mercury News article honoring her.

In our ongoing efforts to improve the facilities at Homestead High School supported by Measure K improvement funds, we will soon be embarking on a new phase of an infrastructure modernization project at the front of the school, including an Innovation Hub that will house computer labs, digital arts, a maker space and more. Construction will begin during summer 2017.
