marching Band to perform at the Rose Parade on Jan. 1, 2018
Homestead High School’s Marching Band was just announced as 1 of 15 bands selected world-wide to perform for more than 700,000 spectators and a worldwide TV audience in excess of 60 million in the 129th Annual Rose Parade held in Pasadena on January 1, 2018. The Homestead High School marching band is the flagship for one of the most accomplished scholastic music programs in Northern California. The selection committee for the Rose Parade cited the band’s dedication to excellence as a key factor in its decision. Read the official press release here. Homestead High School marching band has previously performed in Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and Super Bowl 50 NFL Fan Zone.
HHS Senior Wins National STEM game design contest
Homestead High School senior Anthony Ma has been selected as a winner of the 2016 National STEM Video Game Challenge, one of only 24 winners from nearly 3,000 entries. The 24 middle school and high school winners will be recognized at an award ceremony at National Geographic in Washington, DC, with top original video games and game design concepts selected in 18 categories. The STEM Challenge aims to motivate interest in science, technology, engineering, and math among youth by transforming their natural passions for playing video games into designing and creating their own video games. The Fremont Union High School District Board of Trustees is committed to equal opportunity for all individuals. Mighty Mustang Award
Nominate an exceptional Homestead teacher or staff member for a Mighty Mustang award!
November winners were the Algebra 1 teaching team (Emily Hannigan, Rob Garcia, Alice Carvalho, Erik Shimshock, Erin Ronan and Andrea Westgate) and staff member Claudia Ortiz.
October winners were teachers Adrian McMahon and Kelly Ronsheimer, and staff member Judy Gonzalez.
